Overview

Anusuya is an India-admitted advocate who serves as Of Counsel for the India practice of Law Offices of SRIS, P.C. Enrolled with the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu, she practices in the courts of India and brings a litigation-centered practice spanning banking and recovery, civil and property disputes, family law, and consumer and criminal matters.

Practice

Anusuya’s principal focus is litigation. She handles banking and recovery matters, including proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act (cheque-dishonour matters under Section 138), the SARFAESI Act, and before the Debt Recovery Tribunal, and has acted on title-scrutiny and recovery work for institutional lenders. Her civil practice covers injunction suits, money-recovery actions, property and title disputes, and rent and land-acquisition matters. She represents clients in family-law proceedings, including matters under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act and maintenance claims, and handles consumer and insurance disputes as well as Indian criminal matters, including proceedings under the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors Act and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Courts and reach

Anusuya’s home practice is in Tamil Nadu and South India, and her enrollment permits her to appear before courts across India under the Advocates Act, 1961. For banking, SARFAESI, Debt Recovery Tribunal, and Section 138 matters, where the governing law is central and procedure is uniform nationwide, she acts on a pan-India basis. She works in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and English.

Education

Anusuya holds a Master of Laws (ML) and a five-year integrated B.A.B.L. from Government Law College, Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Coimbatore, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Criminology, Criminal Law and Forensic Science from Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai.

Role at the firm

Within the firm’s cross-border work, Anusuya leads on Indian-law matters in her practice areas and serves as an India liaison, coordinating Indian-law input alongside the firm’s U.S.-licensed attorneys, who lead all U.S.-law matters.
